
Unsafe food is costing Bangladesh USD 3.5 billion annually, experts revealed at a seminar organized by the Bangladesh Food Safety Foundation (BFSF) on World Food Safety Day 2026.
Speakers warned of rising risks from street food, harmful additives, and poor agricultural practices, urging data driven monitoring, stronger labs, and preventive healthcare investment.

A Declaration called safe food a fundamental right and demanded training for street vendors, traceability of raw materials, and food safety education in schools.
The event also unveiled the Foundation’s second year first issue of “Safe Food Dialogue.”
